Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Employment Type: Permanent Staff (SHRA) Vacancy ID: P012128 Salary Range: $48,000 – $54,985 Position Summary/Description: This position is responsible for the creation of strategic content in support of the University’s fundraising priorities. That strategic content would primarily fall into three categories: 1) high-quality proposals for donor prospects, 2) compelling marketing content to tell the story of the impact of Carolina’s $4.25 billion fundraising campaign, and 3) executive communications. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Essential Skills: Demonstrated experience successfully writing professionally for a variety of platforms including presentations, speeches, scripts, social media, articles, editorials, correspondence, blogs and websites; and agility to move quickly between assignments for the platforms in a busy and fast-paced environment. With a particular focus on fundraising, the ability to develop a compelling story with memorable turns of phrases that evoke emotion and inspire action is essential, along with ability to ensure all communications reflect the tone, style and preferences of the speaker. Capable of sifting through large amounts of information, quickly distilling key points and translating them to memorable key messages, while maintaining key facts and figures to support the message. Experience supporting organizational/client initiatives while meeting tight schedules and deadlines. Strong organizational ability and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to counsel leadership across the campus. Ability to build relationships all levels of the organization. Preferred : A bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in journalism, English, communications or other related field. A minimum of 5 years of communications and/or marketing experience. Prior grant or proposal writing experience highly desirable. Previous experience in higher education and/or nonprofit setting preferred.
