Job Purpose The role holder will design, develop & oversee the framework to manage the processes, resources and services required to ensure the marketing department can successfully optimise resource against its objectives, realise synergies and influence business plans as we grow on our transformation journey. Bringing extensive experience of insight led marketing planning, the role will deliver the systematic improvement of the marketing planning process, improve our function level, team and individual capabilities, manage external agency selection, relationship management and oversight, and introduce customer and data centric processes, governance & controls to ensure we are future fit and create customer centric, data driven team who strive to deliver positive customer outcomes within our regulatory regimes. By developing strong working relationships and leadership across Marketing and with other departments throughout the business and across the broader global organisation, this role will lead a small team sitting at the heart of Marketing within Canada Life to drive out best practise. It is a critical support area for the Marketing Director ensuring marketing plans, activity and controls are coordinated throughout the wider team and in line with the broader planning, budgeting, risk, compliance and audit cycles and activities of the organisation. The role is responsible for composing a single marketing strategy and plan across all Marketing teams, ensuring plans optimise resource allocation. The role holder will also act as a gateway and lead marketing response to strategic projects, such as Brexit, Covid-19 response, regulatory change etc. through understanding the opportunity and demands on the Marketing team to ensure appropriate resourcing and prioritisation Key Accountabilities To personally lead the development and articulation of the Insight Led Marketing Strategy and manage the build of a single annual Marketing Plan. This will require working with multiple stakeholders across the Marketing function and broader business to develop plans which deliver against the commercial objectives of the business. Accountable for tracking delivery against these plans and continuously reviewing performance, consulting with the senior marketing team as required. To represent marketing in key strategic projects, leveraging insight and experience to determine impact assessment, response and reallocate resources accordingly. To support the Marketing Director and ensure resources (financial and FTE) are allocated appropriately and providing a governance and management capability for financial budgets across the team, Accountable for the department’s compliance with all relevant risk and governance processes and policies including ensuring that all team members work within the risk and governance framework. Accountable for designing and overseeing Canada Life UK’s financial promotions process, including process, technology and review cycles to ensure regulatory adherence whilst improving customer outcomes and improving time to market. Manage, monitor and report operational risks appropriately on a regular basis, minimising reputational damage and costs (including up to date Business Continuity Plans and Department Risk Registers, Record of Processing Activities etc.) Accountable for ensuring that Marketing activities consider good customer outcomes and treat customers fairly Accountable for ensuring that the Marketing elements of projects are well-managed, monitored and delivered. Work with the knowledge / insight area to develop a business intelligence tool and ensure that it is used effectively to measure and report on marketing performance. Responsible for the review & sign off of requests for information responses to adviser firms requesting information regarding Canada Life and its products/services to ensure response is clear, fair and not misleading. To lead supplier/agency controls and framework, assisting other Marketing teams with agency selection, oversight and relationship management. To identify and lead the ongoing objective setting and tracking of capability and talent frameworks across the team. Developing appropriate plans to manage and enhance the team. Accountable for people leadership and development of 3 direct reports. Job specific accountabilities The creation and maintenance of a single marketing strategy and plan to take One Canada Life to market to effectively allocate resources, maximise return on Investment and identify synergies Develop and lead marketing planning to optimise resource allocation and ensure delivery of the marketing function against plan and lead impact assessment and marketing’s response to strategic projects (e.g Covid-19 response, Brexit etc) Implement best practise governance and controls, including risk management and compliance of materials. Ensure all teams fully embed and maintain te appropriate controls and oversight, including overseeing remediation and closure of any audit/compliance actions. Lead agency selection processes and provide oversight  / relationship management for ongoing supplier management across the team – supporting supplier relationship owners across the team, in particular where multiple teams share supplier relationships. Lead the development and maintenance of a marketing capability and talent framework working across the teams to build future capability and talent, and support career pathways and professional development. Skills/Experience Extensive experience working within Marketing areas, in particular with sound knowledge of strategy development, planning, compliance obligations, performance measurement and financial controls.
